1. Compared with the overall player market, the market of DVD player in 2000 was weaker.  In the next half of the year, the market of DVD player increased a little stably.

2. The technology content of domestic DVD players is low. The upgrading is slow.  Many domestic DVD player manufacturers have not commanded the core technology of DVD.  The development of most DVD player manufacturers is only “taking temporary solutions”.

3. The competition model of DVD player market is following that of VCD player.  The competition of brands and products are fierce.  Traditional player manufacturers have obvious advantage in the competition.

Price competition in the DVD player market was obvious in 2000.  In the 1st quarter, the average price of the main stream DVD player was 2400 RMB. By the 4th quarter, the price had been lowered to 1480 RMB,  a decrease of almost 1000RMB

Compared to the overall DVD player market, the sales volume of 2000 was still low. This was especially the case in the 3rd and 4th quarters, when the sales of DVD players only occupied 17.3% and 6.8% respectively.
